Design-specific analysis

A roof terrace designed for shade and greenery

This three-level concept takes more cues from a resort than a conventional urban elevation. A covered roof terrace, tropical planting and brick jali panels make outdoor space and filtered shade central to the appearance. Stone-grey surfaces and teak tones keep the facade calm beneath the roof feature.

Detail 1

Terrace shade is part of the form

The upper cover gives the house a deliberate roofline while suggesting a protected outdoor area. Confirm the room below still gets adequate light and ventilation.

Detail 2

Brick screening adds depth

Jali panels introduce shadow and privacy without a blank wall. Their openings must suit rain exposure, maintenance and any rooms behind them.

Detail 3

Planting softens harder finishes

Landscape becomes a key visual material against stone and glass. Soil loads, irrigation and drainage need real engineering rather than a decorative add-on.

Before adapting the reference

Consider the real plot and building requirements

The 35×60 ft reference cannot establish the permitted height or buildable area. In tropical conditions, prioritise roof drainage, waterproofing below planters, insect-resistant detailing, safe terrace access and suitable timber alternatives where exposed to heavy rain.
