Free Garden Layout Planner

Experiment with a small home garden before digging or buying plants. Start from a courtyard, front garden or kitchen-garden layout. Select Front garden, Backyard or Inner courtyard, then arrange lawn, planting beds, paths, trees, benches, patio areas and outdoor features on a measured plot. No account or installation required.

Three outdoor layouts to start from

A 20 × 20 ft courtyard combines a patio, lawn, garden path, flower bed and shade-tree zone. A 30 × 20 ft front garden leaves a walkway between planted areas. A 24 × 20 ft kitchen garden has vegetable beds, a path, storage shed and outdoor seating patio. Every element can be moved, resized or removed. For front gardens, a gate and a main-door marker show the road and house sides.

Plants, paths and sitting areas

Select lawn zones, flower or vegetable beds, shrubs, a tree canopy, walking path, garden bench, patio, pergola, water feature or shed. Each uses a simple editable rectangular footprint; the tree symbol is round inside its estimated zone. Select an item on the drawing and use the arrow/rotation controls underneath, or drag it on desktop. You can enter dimensions in feet or metres.

How to interpret the area summary

The summary adds the rectangular areas of planting, hardscape and other designated zones, and estimates remaining ground. It also flags some paths drawn narrower than 2.5 ft. These are rough planning guides, not measurements of curved plant beds or accurate walking-space accessibility. Check overlaps and leave enough room for mature plants, maintenance, drainage and safe access.

Concept sketch only: Actual planting depends on your climate, available sunlight, soil, root growth, rainfall, irrigation and mature canopy size. The editor does not model slopes, water runoff, actual building-door positions, underground utilities, tree-root protection, site boundary rules or structural construction. Verify any pergola, shed, retaining wall, drainage or electrical work with qualified professionals and applicable local requirements.

Garden planning questions

Can I plan a small courtyard garden?

Yes. The 20 × 20 ft courtyard example includes planting, lawn, a bench and a separate patio. Resize the plot to your measurements.

Can I draw a curved path or irregular garden boundary?

Not yet. This simple 2D version uses rectangular zones, straight path segments and a rectangular overall plot for easier phone editing.

Does the front garden show a gate and main door?

Yes. Choose Front garden and select which plot edge faces the road. The drawing shows a centred front gate on that side and the main house door opposite it. Backyard and Inner courtyard hide those markers. These are conceptual references, not surveyed gate or door positions.

Can I save and share my garden layout?

Yes. Drafts autosave in your browser separately from indoor planners. Export an A4 PDF, PNG/SVG image, or editable JSON backup without signing up.
